Therapy for Children

How does therapy work for children?

Children communicate differently than adults, which is why therapy often looks different, too. Instead of expecting children to sit and talk about their feelings, we use play, art, storytelling, movement, and other creative approaches to help them express themselves in ways that feel natural.

As a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S), Dr. Panicha McGuire has advanced training in play therapy and child development. Every intervention is thoughtfully selected to match your child’s developmental stage, interests, strengths, and unique needs. Through play, children can process difficult experiences, express emotions, strengthen relationships, and build confidence in a way that feels engaging and authentic.

Whether sessions take place in person in San Diego or through telehealth, we tailor therapy to each child and family.

We Commonly Support Children With

In-Person & Telehealth Therapy

We offer both in-person play therapy in our San Diego office and telehealth therapy throughout California.

Some children benefit from the hands-on experience of our playroom, while others feel more comfortable meeting from home. We’ll work with your family to determine the approach that best supports your child’s needs, and we’re happy to adjust as those needs change over time.
